September and well, all of fall in Northern Michigan is absolutely beautiful!  We recommend visiting Munising and all of the surrounding Upper Peninsula waterfalls

September is a lovely time to visit as the weather is cooler and there are lots of outdoor things to do in September in Michigan. 

  • You could also search for the incredible glow in the dark Yooperlite rocks!! 

We also love visiting Whitefish Point and it's such an interesting place to see reenactments and see the Edward Fitzgerald bell!

Michigan Renaissance Festival is such a blast, Chris and I love it so much!! I went to last year's Festival Friday and everyone was dressed in fabulous Renaissance outfits! This year, I vow to dress up this year!

Self-Guided Saturdays of the Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow house named "The Pines"- Dow Gardens, Midland, Michigan. First Saturday of the Month, through November, 2025; 11 a.m.–1 p.m. The Pines is a National Historic Landmark and is filled with treasures, collected by the Dow family. Visit the music room to see a casket-style music box, see Herbert’s favorite chair by the fireplace and enjoy seeing  the Dow children's favorite books. Reservations recommended. September Offers Great Elk Viewing Opportunities

September and October are prime Elk Viewing times, especially in the Gaylord Michigan region! During this time, the male bulls can be heard bugling, and are very active rounding up the females. The breeding season or rut begins in early September and peaks around September 20th. It's best to view them at dusk and dawn.

60th Annual Marshall Historic Home Tour

When: September 6, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. and September 7, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Where: Online ticket holders can pick up their tickets at the ticket booth in front of the Honolulu House on the day of the event or at any of the participating homes. Bring a copy of email confirmation.

Early bird pricing of $25 is available until Labor Day, after which tickets will be full price at $30. Tour several privately owned homes representing various architectural styles. Check out Art at the Museum, a juried fine arts and crafts fair, on the Honolulu House Museum grounds both days. This Marshall Historic Home Tour is the Midwest's longest-running home tour!  So many interesting things to do in September!
