Every July through Mid August, stunning Michigan Lavender Farms, Fields and Festivals are ablaze with color and scents!  Many farms offer U Pick Flowers!

The smell of lavender is absolutely divine and assaults your senses as soon as you step out of your vehicle.  It's virtually impossible to arrive at a lavender farm and not gasp at the utter beauty of the soft purple blooms swaying in the breeze!  It's absolutely breathtaking!

  • Michigan has stunning lavender farms in Traverse City, Boyne City, Charlevoix, Saugatuck, Fennville, Imlay City, Mattawan, Mears, Marion and Petoskey regions.

When can I see lavender in Michigan? 

Lavender begins to bloom in Michigan early-to-mid July and continues through mid August, depending on the weather and the location of the lavender farms. We picked lavender into the second week of August this past year, so be sure to email or message your intended farm before you visit to make sure it's prime season.


When is the best time to visit lavender farms in Michigan?

We love to visit Michigan lavender farms and festivals in July and early August.  If you visit in the morning the traffic/visitors will be less so you can get great photos.

1. Indigo Lavender Farms - Imlay City, Michigan (Thumb Area)


Address: 631 N Van Dyke Rd, Imlay City, MI

Indigo Farms is a FANTASTIC Michigan lavender farm located in Imlay City. As you can see, it is well kept and just gorgeous with rolling fields of lavender as far as the eye can see. It's one of our favorite lavender farms in Michigan!

Their lavender farm tour is available during U-Pick season!  


There is a $5 fee to visit Indigo Lavender Farms but it's included in the cost if you attend the fabulous Michigan Lavender Festival featured below. Indigo Lavender Farms also has beautiful bee hives that helps the local bees and produces incredible lavender honey.

There's a wonderful farm tour, events and a shop to find delightful lavender products.

2. Summerhouse Lavender Farm

2975 65th St, Fennville, MI 49408

Summerhouse Lavender Farm's season begins in May and they will be open for guided tours Thursday-Sunday 11am-5pm all summer!  Book a tour on their website! This lovely Michigan lavender farm is located in Fennville, Michigan.

Lavender will be in full bloom near the end of June or early July. Their gardens are spectacular. Summerhouse Lavender Farm's season goes though the 2nd week in October.


3. Lavender Hill Farm - Boyne City, Michigan (Near Charlevoix and Petoskey)


We just discovered Lavender Hill Farm! (I'm posing above!) What a lovely spot to visit near Charlevoix! Popular lavender farm Petoskey.

Established in 2003, Lavender Hill Farm is one of the largest commercial lavender farms in Michigan.

Embark on guided tours ($5) or free walking tours throughout the farm.  There's also a mile of trails to discover additional lavender gardens! Take lots of pictures as the area is just gorgeous!

They are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily May through October but the blooms photographed above are in full bloom in July. It's one of our favorite lavender farms in Michigan!



We just love the shop at Lavender Hill Farm located in Boyne City, Michigan.  It's filled with lavender goodies such as satchels, soaps, plants and so much more!  We enjoyed Lavender Fizz drink, Lavender cookies and of course, Moomers' Lavender ice cream.  What a fun afternoon!

What Can You Do With Lavender? Lavender has many uses dating to Biblical times. Lavender has natural antibacterial and anti-fungal properties.

It is an analgesic which acts as a pain reliever.  Lavender is one of only essential oils you can apply directly to your skin.

4. Harbor View Nursery and Lavender Farm: Lavender Farm Traverse City

Harbor View Nursery & Lavender Farm located in beautiful Traverse City is family-owned and operated on beautiful Old Mission Peninsula in Traverse City, Michigan.  Sonja and Bret Richards opened for business in 1993!  

  • Harbor View Nursey and Lavender Farm is open for classes (schedule on line) and u pick lavender.

Hours:  April-October Daily  10-6 p.m.

5. Mid Michigan Lavender (Lovely Lavender Farm Michigan for U Pick!)  


Mid Michigan Lavender Address: 17658 N 5th Ave, Marion, MI 49665

Come out to Mid Michigan Lavender farm located in Marion Michigan for u pick July to Mid August!  This family-owned farm in Marion, Michigan makes for a fun family trip to learn more about lavender!  

U Pick and plant sales start July 1st and goes through Labor day weekend. 


There is a super cute shop with lavender everything, including handmade lavender soap, lotions, gifts and shirts!  You will love it! 



Mid Michigan Lavender farm is located about 20 miles northwest of Clare and 20 miles southeast of Cadillac.  Also be sure to visit their gift shop filled with lavender products and gifts. This is a beautiful lavender farm in Michigan for U Pick!



They supply the baskets and scissors to use while picking so come on out! 


6. Shades of Lavender Farm - Mattawan Michigan for U Pick Lavender!


Shades of Lavender Farm located in Mattawan Michigan is a lovely place to pick your own lavender (they provide scissors!) and wander past all the variety of lavender. 

Be sure to stop into their lovely shop for everything Lavender! Lavender caramels, tea, loose lavender, soaps and so much more!

Where I Recommend To Stay Nearby: Kalamazoo is your closest bet for hotels.  We have stayed at the Country Inn and Suites, and we love the Radisson as it is right downtown for all the nightlife!  You can walk everywhere from this location. 


7. Cherry Point Farm and Market - Shelby Michigan: Famous Lavender Labyrinth Michigan

Not only is Cherry Point Farm in Shelby Michigan a great place for viewing lavender fields, but you can also shop their farm market! Lots of local produce!  While you are there, try their homemade cherry pie, fresh bread and other delicious treats. They also make their own jams, jellies, fudge, cookies, muffins, donuts, and other goodies so try them out!  

  • Lavender is in bloom through July, often lasting into August but if you want to be sure, call the farm for up to date information. 

Cherry Point Farm is also home to the famous Lavender Labyrinth that is a great spot to meditate, relax and free your mind. The peak bloom time is mid to late July.

8. Michigan Lavender Festival


Each year, I am just giddy to go to the Original Michigan Lavender Festival held at Eastern Michigan Fairgrounds in Imlay City, MI.  Grab the current date of the festival on our August Calendar of Michigan Events.

One of my favorite things is to grab a bowl of Lavender Ice Cream as I wander the vendors tables.  YUMMY!

  • Tons of Food Trucks
  • 175 Vendors (inside the barns and outside)
  • Free classes and demos
  • Lots of music!

9. Lavender Hill Farm of Niles

Address: 1219 Morris Dr, Niles, MI 49120 

Lavender Hill Farm is so beautiful during Michigan's lavender season!  You are in for a lovely sensory experience of fragrance and color!  Oh, and they have sheep!  So come check them out!  There's a gift shop too! 


10. Ocimeae Lavender Farm: New U Pick Lavender Farm Webberville, MI

Address: 3123 Gramer Rd, Webberville MI 

Opening June 30-July 30. Come enjoy a relaxing time in a fragrant field of purple blooms and take some home with you! Great U Pick farm!


11. Bohemian Lavender Farm

Address: 8181 S Shimek Rd, Maple City, MI 49664

Bohemian Lavender Farm offers lovely lavender vistas!  You must visit this lavender farm when visiting Northern Michigan.  Plus, they are only about 25 minutes from Traverse City. 


12. Blake's Lavender Festival

Address: Blake's Orchard & Cider Mill 17985 Armada Center Road, Armada, MI

Blake's Lavender Festival is July 14th - 16th, 2023, 10AM - 5PM DAILY. No pets allowed. Immerse yourself in their tranquil orchards and stroll our open-air marketplace featuring 200+ artisans! FREE classes, speakers and demonstrations on topics such as natural wellness, aromatherapy, farming and gardening, benefits of local honey and more!
