Mont Ripley Ski Area in Michigan's Upper Peninsula near Houghton-Hancock offers skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing for Michigan Technological University and the public. 

As the oldest ski area in Michigan and snowiest city in the Midwest, Mont Ripley is a fantastic alpine town experience.  They offer twenty-four challenging trails, terrain park, tubing park, 440' vertical drop over 112 acres, and a stunning scenic overlook of the Keweenaw Waterway.


Mt Zion Ski Hill | Ironwood Michigan

Mt Zion Ski Hill is the Upper Peninsula hotspot for the Midwest SnoCross that happens mid-December. Mt. Zion is a public ski hill located on Gogebic Community College's campus and offers views of "Big Snow Country" while downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, snowtubing, or snowshoeing.

Snow Tubing Parks at Ski Brule - Popular Ski Resort in Michigan's Upper Peninsula

Where: 397 Brule Mountain Rd, Iron River, MI 49935

If you like to sled, you’ll love snow tubing at Ski Brule located in Northern Michigan! Snow tubing is such a fun Michigan winter attraction you don’t want to miss it!  Climb on a tube and fly down to the bottom of the snow tubing park.  Ski Brule offers two types of snow tubing at this popular ski resort: Whitewater Snow Tubing Park and Homestead Snow Tubing park.

Whitewater Snow Tubing Park  

The Whitewater Snow Tubing Park involves being towed on a tube (tubes are provided) to the top of the snow tubing park. Less work! The 2024 season price is $10 for 5 runs.

Homestead Snow Tubing Park 

Tubing is located at the mid mountain Homestead Lodge.  Homestead Tubing is traditional tubing (walk up the hill style snow tubing) and suitable for all ages.

Sault Seal Recreation Area - Super Affordable Winter Fun

Where: 2601 Minneapolis St, Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783

Sault Seal Recreation Area is a UP cold outdoor winter recreational facility. Sault Seal offers 7 fun tubing runs with 2 lifts, and a ski/snowboard hill with 1 lift. You can also warm up in their heated chalet! Enjoy a hot beverage while getting a birds-eye-view of skiers and snow tubers zipping down the hill!

Cost: Adults are $10/day and students or kids are $6/day. Super affordable winter fun!

Their tubing hill is located right next to their ski slopes and they have a tow rope where you will be towed back to the top to do it again!

Mt. McSauba - Charlevoix in Northern Michigan

Where: 9223 Mt McSauba Rd, Charlevoix, MI 49720.

Rated one of the top three small ski areas in the U.S. by Ski Magazine, Mt. McSauba offers affordable family skiing and is a winter recreation playground. They have an ice skating rink with a warming cabin on the south side, a lighted sledding hill on the north side and behind the towering dune, a cross-country ski trail. Petoskey Winter Sports Park

Where: 1100 Winter Park Ln, Petoskey, MI 49770.

Perfect for sledding, ice skating, hockey, skiing and snowboarding. There is a limited supply of sleds for use if you do not have your own.

Petoskey Winter Sports Park features a warming house with a fireplace, concession stand, drinking fountain, free wireless Internet access, TV and restrooms. Board games are available to checkout and weather permitting, a campfire area is available on the weekends. The park typically opens in late December and closes in mid March.

The Highlands at Harbor Springs

Fantastic tube sledding in Michigan!  Their incredible Tubing Park is an 800-foot-long tubing run! The speed builds quickly, sending you racing down your lane!  Popular for both kids and adults.

Best Snow Tubing Spots In Central or Mid-Michigan

City Forest Sledding Hill and Toboggan Runs - Midland Michigan


Where: 2840 E Monroe Rd, Midland, MI 48640. 

Chris and I love going sledding and tubing at Midland City Forest each winter.  It's a very short walk from the parking area to the chalet and snow tubing area. You will need to bring your own sleds or tubes. 

Tobogganing: Their toboggan runs are the one of the last remaining toboggan runs in the state of Michigan so you need to check it out! There are two toboggan run towers approximately a tenth of a mile from each other.

  • Snow Making: When conditions are favorable (15-17 degrees), snow is made on-site for the hill.




Snow Snake Ski & Golf - Central Michigan Region

Where: 3407 E Mannsiding Rd, Harrison, MI 48625. 

Snow tubing is on a first come first serve basis, they even have connected tubes so you can ride with your small children!  


Burchfield Park - Mid Michigan, South of Lansing

Where: 881 Grovenburg Rd, Holt, MI 48842

Sled down their two sledding hills, one for little kids, and one for the more daring! Snow tubes are available to rent. Monday - Thursday snow tube rentals are closed, but the hill remains open, you may bring your own sled.  

  • They also have a toboggan run and ski trails. Concessions: Self-serve hot chocolate. There is a vehicle entrance fee at Burchfield Park. 


Hawk Island Park - Michigan Snow Tubing in Lansing with Magic Carpet!

Where: 1601 E Cavanaugh Rd, Lansing, MI 48910. East of Grand Rapids. 

Hawk Island is one of Michigan's most popular snow tubing destinations. Make your reservations early.

Rush down one of their several thrilling 16 ft wide sculpted snow lanes and drop 50-60 feet over a course of 500-600 feet! A magic carpet uphill conveyor lift will bring you back to the top of the hill to do it all again! Snow making machines are used.

  • Enjoy their outdoor fires with hot chocolate, s'mores and other snacks.  There is a vehicle entrance fee at Hawk Island.

Muskegon Luge Adventure Sports Park in West Michigan

Where: 462 N Scenic Dr, Muskegon, MI 49445. 

Did you know the Muskegon luge track is one of only four luge tracks in the United States?  It's the only Kunstbahn track (German for artificial track) made from natural ice and not refrigerated. The luge track is 850 ft. long and was designed by three-time Olympian Frank Masley.

The Muskegon track provides an Olympic thrill that first-timers can handle. This Michigan luge track has six curves and two starting areas.

In winter, the park features a sledding hill, a half mile of cleared walking trail, three miles of groomed cross-country ski trails (weather permitting). Winter equipment is available for rent.


Kensington Metropark - Awesome Michigan Sledding Hill

Where: 4570 Huron River Parkway, Milford, MI 48381

Kensington Metropark offers a very fun sledding hill to enjoy all winter long! No rentals are available so you must bring your own sled or tube. There is an entrance fee to Kensington Metropark.


Bowers School Farm Winter Park - Bloomfield Hills Near Detroit

Where: 1219 E Square Lake Rd, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48304 

Slide down one of the coolest sledding hills in Metro Detroit! It's also super fun to go snow tubing in the evenings under the glow of their twinkly lights! Awesome winter tubing in Michigan!

Snowy Ridge Park (Commerce Township Parks) | Southeast Michigan - Near Detroit

Snowy Ridge Park is located on the west side of Welch Road, just south of the Township Wastewater Treatment Plant.  It's the area's only sledding hill!
