Discover the Incredible Lakeside Delamar Hotel

615 E Front St, Traverse City, MI 49686 : Hotels Traverse City MI

If you are looking for Traverse City hotels on the water (and in the heart of Traverse City) check out the Delamar Hotel! It's one of our top favorite Traverse City Hotels!

Since it's always all about location, location, location, this hotel has it all!  The Delamar Hotel is located right on the West Arm of the Grand Traverse Bay, so you can enjoy a glass of wine while watching the crashing waves just steps from your room!

Previously a Holiday Inn, this waterfront hotel was completely renovated in 2019 turning it into an incredibly modern, posh and well appointed hotel. I was thrilled to be hosted at this lovely hotel for two nights to fully enjoy all the amenities and region. It's now one of our favorite hotels in Traverse City MI!

Artisan Waterfront Restaurant and Tavern Located Within the Delamar Hotel in Traverse City Michigan

After a long day of hiking, exploring and photography (I mean, somebody's gotta do it) I was ready to relax and enjoy a fantastic meal.

And let me just say, you will be hard pressed to find better service, menu offerings, exquisitely prepared meals and romantic atmosphere anywhere else in Michigan.

And I don't say that lightly...

  • I was just blown away by the friendly atmosphere throughout the hotel and restaurant. You can enjoy your meal at the bar, a table near the bar or in the elegant dinning area.
  • They also have a lovely private room for family dinners or business meetings.

You can see why the Delamar hotel is one of the best places to stay in Traverse City.

Oh, and this herb garden (located right outside the restaurant) is used to create tasty dishes in the Artisan Restaurant!

The host was very friendly and told me all about the restaurant's fantastic painting (shown above) and how changing the lighting can affect the way it shimmers.

The Artisan restaurant features several wines by the glass or full bottle offerings.  I fully enjoyed my Chateau Bonnet Bordeaux Blend.

Appetizer selections are plentiful and artfully made. I chose a creamy Fall Squash Cappuccino (soup) with roasted pear and pepitas.  It was absolutely divine! The Great Lakes Chowder or Shrimp Cocktail (perfect for sharing) is also highly recommended.

After enjoying the absolutely deliciousness of the squash cappuccino, I could hardly contain myself while waiting for my dinner to arrive. All meals in the Delamar kitchen are prepared from scratch in-house so I knew I was in for a treat!

I happily passed the time by watching the waves crash right outside the window. What a spectacular view!

Dinner was very relaxed and my server took the time to tell me about the menu, make suggestions and make sure I was comfortable.

I really enjoyed meeting the chef - he's so friendly!  He stopped by my table to ask about my Scottish Salmon dinner with broccolini and we chatted about the absolutely delicious parsnip puree.

I mean, who knew parsnips were so yummy?

I had no idea how much work went into creating such a lovely dish!  Kudos to the chef!

Also try Artisan's incredible Seafood Chowder or the Cioppino. So yummy!

Ohhh, so let me tell you all about dessert.

(You seriously didn't think I'd skip it, did you?)

I asked the chef for a recommendation and he replied, "I'll make you something delicious" and headed back to the kitchen.

Oh, boy!

After such a fabulous meal, I had total trust in his abilities (and crazy high expectations.)

My eyes lit up when a lightly sweetened, apple-cranberry cobbler arrived at my table. It was a delightful blend of a crisp and soft cobbler all in one...and absolute perfection.  The cool melty ice cream cleansed your palate between bites of the crisp, gooey cobbler.

I might have actually clapped when it arrived...

Oh, and forget about sharing this dessert. Trust me, you will want to order your own or a spoon war may incur.

The Rooms Are Lovely at the Delamar Hotel

Who doesn't want to see the lovely Grand Traverse Bay from their room!

At the Delamar Hotel, there are several types of rooms available including large rooms with kitchens and living rooms so I'm confident you will find a room perfect for your needs.

My bed was very comfortable, but the best thing was the view of the Grand Traverse Bay!  You can see why the Delamar hotel is one of the best places to stay in Traverse City.

You Know It's All About the Pool...And The Delamar Has Two!

From private covered cabanas to their comfortable poolside loungers, the Delamar Hotel has thought of every comfort you may need while enjoying a dip in their luxurious pools.

The nearby bar and coffee bistro offers inventive cocktails and cool drinks to enjoy poolside.  My favorite time to visit the pool is during the evening hours, when the twinkling lights create a relaxing, intimate atmosphere.
