Munising Falls: 4 Irresistible Reasons Why You Should Visit These Jaw-Dropping Upper Peninsula Michigan Waterfalls

Munising Falls: 4 Irresistible Reasons Why You Should Visit These Jaw-Dropping Upper Peninsula Michigan Waterfalls

By: Sherry Trautman | Travel-Mi.com

The beautiful Munising Waterfalls is located in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. It's one of our favorite Upper Peninsula Waterfalls that we always have to visit when we are on one of our UP roadtrips!

Why Visit These Falls?

  1. It's a very flat, paved or boardwalk surface all the way to the falls so it's accessible for most.
  2. There are THREE, yes three, platforms for your viewing pleasure!  How cool is that?!
  3. Not only are the falls fabulous, but you get a river tossed in there too!
  4. Flushing toilets. You will seriously appreciate that after you have been hiking all day using nature or porta johns.

Located near scenic Pictured Rocks, these spectacular waterfalls are a must-see!

How Do I Get to Munising Falls?

Located within the city of Munising, follow H-58 east (Munising Ave) until you turn left onto Washington Street. Follow Washington Street until you reach the Munising Memorial Hospital and the falls parking area is across the street at the Munising Falls Visitor Center.

Park at the Munising Visitor's Center located at 1505 Sand Point Road, Munising, Michigan

How Far is the Walk to Munising Falls?

The path to Munsing Falls is a very short, paved trail that is 800 feet one way. It is shaded most of the way with lots of trees and the sandstone canyon along Munising Creek.  The main paved trail leads to the platform to view the breathtaking 50-foot waterfall.

As an unexpected beautiful bonus, there is this stunning river that follows the pathway to the falls. Isn't it gorgeous?!

Head Up the Stairs For Another Great View!

We love heading up the stairs to the higher viewing platforms to see a different perspective of Munising Falls.  It's one heck of a view!!  I hear it's fantastic in winter!

Pets are only allowed on the paved trail.
