Do you love petting soft cats, do they make your heart purr?  Michigan Cat Cafes are the solution to your woes if you can't have a furry friend of your own. Especially if you travel a lot like we do, have kids with allergies or housing rules prevent pets, why not go to them?  Petting kitties relieves stress, reduces anxiety and combats loneliness. 

  • Cat Cafes are located in Fernadale, Ann Arbor, Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids and Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. I'm sure more will pop up every year due to their extreme popularity!

Most of the cafes have wi-fi so you can post your copious amounts of photos with your new furry friends!

1. The Catfé Lounge Ferndale - A Ferndale Cat Café Purrect for Cuddling

Where: 821 Livernois Ave, Ferndale, MI

Are you a cat lover?

I've HEARD about this glorious concept of sipping coffee and petting cats, but once you experience it, your world will change.  You'll be at work, staring at your cubicle wall, dreaming of "your" cat, wondering how he/she is doing, if they miss you.  Oh it'll happen.  Once that tail swishes against your leg and they lean into you, you're a gonner.

Ferndale Cat Shelter is a 501c3 cat rescue so the adorable cats and kittens are available for adoption!  This Ferndale cat café is part of the Ferndale Cat Shelter.

  • There is a $15 required donation for visitors to enjoy the adoptable shelter cats. So, stop by the Catfé with your friends for coffee, tea, or juice while petting fuzzy felines!

2. Tinylions - Cat Cafe Ann Arbor 

Where: 5245 Jackson Rd a1, Ann Arbor, MI

TinyLion's Cat Cafe is a warm, comfortable café that is perfect for people visiting and playing with the kitties, but it's also a kind home while they wait for people to adopt them.  So, come to Tinylions Cafe and interact with their cats in a safe place and maybe, just maybe, one little paw will tug at your heartstrings! 

Their cats are from the Humane Society of Huron Valley

 Rules include: Being gentle, not picking up cats, and speaking softly.

  • Ann Arbor’s first cat café
  • You may use their free Wi-Fi, café tables or lounge chairs, shop in their cat-lovers store, meet up with friends or simply relax with new fur-iends.

Reservations are recommended to ensure availability. There is a fee. 


Many of the cats and kittens at the Cafes are available for adoption. If you’re interested in adopting a cat, it's a great way to meet and play with kitties in need of homes.

3. Kzoo Cat Cafe and Rescue - 501(c)3 non-Profit Organization

Where: 1128 W Michigan Ave #1, Kalamazoo, MI

The Kzoo Cat Cafe and Rescue's mission is "to provide temporary housing and care to local stray and abandoned cats in a relaxed, cage-free, social atmosphere where they can interact with other cats and people in order to find their forever home."

When you visit Kzoo Cat Cafe and Rescue, you can choose a hot or cold beverage, snacks, and enjoy interacting with lovable, playful, adoptable rescue cats and kittens.

  • Donations: The Kzoo Cat Cafe and Rescue could use your help! They are always in need of your monetary donations and specific items listed on their websit. 

The Kzoo Cat Cafe and Resuce is open by appointment.

4. Happy Cat Cafe Grand Rapids - Lattes + Kitties = Happy | One of the Most Popular Michigan Cat Cafes! Walk-in's Welcome!

Where: 447 Division Ave S, Grand Rapids, MI

At Happy Cat Cafe in Grand Rapids, you will simply purr over their specialty lattes, shaken expressos, sparkling sodas and more! 

Happy Cat Cafe is a registered animal shelter with the Department of Agriculture of Michigan that works in partnership with rescues to facilitate adoption in-house.

  • Founded in 1997
  • They are partnered with Michele’s Rescue which is a 501c3 non-profit companion animal rescue.
  • They are no-kill shelter

Reservations are not required but encouraged. Their ultimate goal is for you to fall in love with one of their adoptable shelter cats and take them home! 


5. Karma Kat Cafe - Mount Pleasant - Yoga With Cats, Painting with Cats and Bingo!

Where: 612 E Broadway St, Mt Pleasant, MI

Karma Kat Cafe is is a state-licensed animal shelter that cares for adorable cats without homes. They help connect cats with their new forever home. 

What a unique experience! Members and guests can relax in the comfortable lounge while sipping coffee, doing homework, or just relaxing with furry friends.

6. Constellation Cat Cafe East Lansing

Constellation Cat Cafe has tasty lattes, tea, milkshakes, yummy treats, and 6-20 adoptable rescue kitties to pet! 

After reserving your time, spend time in the cat room!

  • They also have several events like meditation with cats, writing, board game night,  and more!


7. Kitty Catfé - First Cat Cafe in Macomb County!

Kitty Catfé is located in The Mall at Partridge Creek in Downtown Mount Clemens. 17420 Hall Rd, Clinton Twp, MI 48038

What a great way to spend your time by hanging with cats until they find their forever home!  The Kitty Catfe has partnered with A Rejoyceful Animal Rescue and Humane Society of Macomb, which is where they receive most of their cats and kittens. 

So, good news! These new furry friends are available for adoption! 

Schedule your visit at the Kitty Catfe and immediately begin to feel your stress melt away. 

The Kitty Catfe operates on only donations so the small $18 donation at the door is what keeps the kitties fed, housed and loved. Coffee, tea, or hot cocoa is no additional charge.
