Article: 2024 Tulip Time Parade Route, Date, Lineup, Parking, Things to See, Where To Sit | How To Livestream the Parades!

Is it May yet?  Chris and I can't wait for Holland Michigan's famous Tulip Time Festival (and 2024 Tulip Time Parade!) This top-rated spring festival located in scenic southwest Michigan is a perfect getaway for couples, friends and families!

Where else can you celebrate Dutch heritage while learning Dutch dances, screaming on carnival rides, cheering at shows, and being wowed by millions of tulips...all while wearing wooden shoes?

Of course, one of the most fun (and wildly popular) FREE events during this Michigan springtime festival is the 2024 Tulip Time Parade! This colorful parade is fun for kids and adults alike as everyone cheers for the loud marching bands, colorful floats, funny characters, and lots of surprises!

What To Expect at the 2024 Tulip Time Parades

Expect lots of fun, loud music, colorful parades, bands, and cheer! There will be lots of kids, dogs, blankets, chairs, and strollers.

Also expect very large crowds with everyone packed shoulder to shoulder.  There will be no gaps between people, so if you like your space, it's best to get there early and maybe position further from the downtown area as it is heavily populated.

  • Last time, Chris and I were positioned on 8th street and Columbia and it was PACKED to the gills.

Well, There are TWO Tulip Time Parades, Actually!

What we like about it

Our take, the good and the bad...

Chris and I always enjoy the Tulip Time Parades as the floats are so sparkly, the bands are energetic and there's always a few funny floats (like ghostbusters!)!  However, the crowds are intense.  Get there early if you wish to have a front row to see the parade. Otherwise, plan to see the parade from several people deep.

Of course, you can buy stadium seating tickets also which will give you a designated space and a great view.

What To Bring

Comfort (and being prepared) is the name of the game here!

I have cute backpack purse that goes everywhere with me. I pack sunscreen, 2 waters, a snack (because I get hangry) and the usuals like money. I always wear a visor hat, sunglasses and have a spare pull-over.

When to Go

Pick your Parade Day as there are two Tulip Time Parades!

You will need to arrive early before the parades (most likely a couple hours) if you want close seating. Bring chairs and blankets. If you plan to stand you can arrive anytime.

If you have Grandstand Seats: Be sure to read the rules and suggestions for Grandstand Seating so you and those around you have the best experience.

How to Get There

Gerald R. Ford International Airport and driving information.

If you are flying into Michigan for the Holland Tulip Time festival, the closest airport is the Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The airport designator code is GRR.

The address to the airport is 5500 44th St SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49512.  We recommend booking a rental car at the airport for the duration of your stay as you will need to drive to several locations for the Holland Tulip Time Festival.

Distance from GRR to Holland is: 38 min (34.8 miles) via M-6 W and I-196 W.

What To Budget

How much should you budget for the Tulip Time Parade?

It's free to attend the Tulip Time Parade but I'd budget for a meal, drinks and snacks from the numerous tempting food trucks and stands all along the route.  Plan around $20 per person.
