The Mackinac Island Lilac Festival Parade in downtown Mackinac Island is a highlight of springtime in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. As a top Michigan tourist destination, the festival offers a variety of family-friendly things to do, making it the perfect Michigan getaway. Per an article about the festival on Midwest Living, local landscape designer Jack Barnwell plants hundreds of lilacs yearly. He states, "The town and Fort Mackinac are covered with a canopy of lilacs."
