Our Recommendations of When to Visit Mackinac Island
by: Sherry

Hi Megan,

Mackinac Island is fantastic in May as it is the beginning of the tourist season and we also love going late August and September as the temps are cool, plus the hotel prices and traffic are lower. Especially in September, you can get hotels for a lot less, like $100 vs $275 in June and July on or off the island.

The temps are very moderate during those times too, usually 65 to 75 degrees. During July and August the temps will be around 75-85 but there is usually a breeze which makes it very tolerable.

The island is very busy June and July. We just went mid September and the island was not crowded. It was very enjoyable.
