When can you pick apples in Michigan?

We'd love to go apple picking this year. My grandkids have never tried it and I want them to understand where apples come from. Any suggestions near Detroit would be helpful. Thank you.

Apples are ready for picking mid September to Mid October and I attached a link to our fun apple picking guide and map to Michigan farms. There are several apple picking farms in Detroit.
