Our Favorite Things About the South Haven Art Fair ❤️

We've visited many Michigan art fairs over the years, and this one quickly became one of our favorites. Why?

🌳 A Beautiful Park Setting

Unlike many outdoor art fairs held on hot city streets, the South Haven Art Fair is tucked beneath the mature shade trees of Stanley Johnston Park. Chris and I immediately noticed how relaxing the park setting felt. Instead of walking block after block on hot pavement, we found ourselves leisurely wandering the shaded pathways, taking our time visiting with artists and admiring their work.

🎨 Friendly Artists

One thing that stood out during our visit was how welcoming the artists were. Many genuinely enjoyed talking about their techniques, materials, and the stories behind their creations, making every booth feel personal.

💙 Affordable Original Artwork

You'll certainly find investment-quality artwork, but Chris and I were pleasantly surprised by the number of affordable, handcrafted pieces available. Whether you're looking for a unique souvenir, a thoughtful gift, or artwork for your home, there are options for nearly every budget.

🐾 Pet Friendly

During our visit, we noticed quite a few visitors enjoying the art fair with their four-legged companions. Well-behaved dogs on leashes are welcome, making this a fun outing for the entire family—including your pup.

Best Time to Visit the South Haven Art Fair

Chris and I arrived at 10:00 a.m. and found the park pleasantly busy without feeling crowded. If you'd like the best selection of artwork and cooler temperatures, we recommend arriving in the morning before heading to North Beach or downtown South Haven for lunch.

  • Original artwork, Handmade gifts, Home décor, Garden art, Functional art, Wearable art, Photography, Jewelry, Pottery.  It's such a creative, diverse selection of art!  You'll find something for you, a friend and gifts! Think birthday's and Christmas! It's never too early to buy Christmas gifts!

  • Chris & Sherry's Favorite Booths

Two artist booths especially caught our attention at the South Haven Art Fair:

    🪵 Handcrafted Burl Wood Vessels

One artist transformed natural burl wood into incredibly smooth bowls and decorative vessels. Each piece showcased the wood's unique grain patterns, creating functional artwork unlike anything found in a typical home décor store.

    🌊 Lake Michigan Resin Art

Another favorite featured stunning handcrafted artwork inspired by Lake Michigan. Using layers of resin poured over wood, the artist recreated beautiful shoreline waves on serving trays, cutting boards, wall art, tables, Christmas ornaments, and other unique pieces. The vibrant blues and whites looked remarkably like waves rolling onto South Haven's beaches.
