Each year, it's a holiday tradition for Chris and I to wander hand-in-hand while enjoying the incredible Rochester Michigan Christmas lights. Their Big Bright Light Show is a great way to get into the Christmas spirit!

  • The buildings and storefronts in downtown Rochester will be blanketed with more than 1 million sparkling holiday lights the week of Thanksgiving! It's absolutely breathtaking!
  • It's a lot of work to make downtown Rochester sparkle! It takes a couple crews about eights weeks, beginning in October, to install all the lights on the storefronts along Main Street.

Definitely place the Downtown Rochester Christmas lights on your must-see Michigan bucket list today! Your family will love it!


When is Rochester's The Big Bright Light Show in Michigan? 

The Rochester Christmas lights come on November 24, 2025 -January 18, 2026

  • The display will be lit every evening (5 pm - Midnight), November 24, 2025 - January 18, 2026. Most stores are open Monday - Saturday, until 9 pm.

Friday and Saturday nights are super busy, so if you prefer fewer crowds, try visiting during the week!

Visit Rochester During Lagniappe! Monday, November 24, 2025

Lagniappe 2025 - Monday, November 24, 6:00-9:00 pm! Downtown Rochester will sparkle with bright lights and cheerful holiday spirit as local merchants show their appreciation to the community! So come celebrate Lagniappe’s 52nd anniversary, where "a little something extra" awaits.

Then get ready for some hometown fun: The Big Bright Light Show officially light-ups the night sky at 7:00 pm. This marks the start of the massive holiday light display!

The program will kick off at 6:00 pm on stage located on the crosswalk of W. 4th Street & Main, with the Mayor, Dave LewAllen, and Santa Claus!

At 7:00 pm, The Big, Bright Light Show will illuminate Downtown Rochester, followed by a fireworks display!

Afterward, children can share their Christmas wishes with Santa from 7:15 pm to 9:00 pm.

We love that you can simply drive along S. Main Street and see all the lights from the warmth of your vehicle.

However, if you wish to get in some Christmas shopping, the downtown Rochester stores are generally open until 9:00 p.m.
