When July and August hits, I grab my flip flops, sunscreen, hat, snacks and head to the nearest river for some lazy river tubing near me! Such fun times with family and friends! AND fun things to do with kids!

We polled Michiganders for the best places to go tubing in Michigan this summer and WOW Michiganders LOVE TUBING!  We added a few of our own favorites and created this MEGA LIST of the Best Tubing in Michigan!

Northern Michigan: Sturgeon River Tubing in Indian River and Wolverine Michigan


How fast is the Sturgeon River? 14 feet per mile

The Sturgeon River is the fastest flowing river in Michigan's lower peninsula! The Sturgeon River flows into Burt Lake.

Get ready for some white water action! The Sturgeon river can be very exciting!

The Sturgeon River is not a lazy river, so you need to watch pay attention, paddle, push away from logs and sticks. Chris and I like the adventure of it! 

So if you are looking for a slow, lazy river check out more option below! We recommend wearing water shoes.

Sturgeon River Paddlesports are located in Northern Michigan, conveniently close to Gaylord, Indian River, Boyne City, Petoskey, Harbor Springs, Cheboygan, Mackinaw City.


North and Northwest Michigan: Manistee River Tubing in Grayling, Manton, Mesick, Thompsonville and Honor 

If you choose to canoe, kayak or raft the Manistee River, there are no dangerous rapids and it is very family friendly. There's a constant flow, without portages.  Some of the best river tubing in Michigan!

Chippewa Landing - 10390 Chippewa Landing Trail, Manton, MI 49663. Chippewa Landing offers Manistee River canoe rentals, kayaking rentals, tubing rentals and camping on the Manistee River. They are a full service canoe livery and campground located 10 minutes north of Cadillac, Michigan in beautiful Northern Michigan.

Wilderness Canoe Trips - 6052 Riverview Rd, Mesick, MI 49668. Wilderness Canoe Trips offer canoe rentals, raft rentals, kayak rentals, and tubing rentals on the Manistee River.  They provide shuttle services for all of their rentals, so your vehicle will remain parked in their lot until your return.

Northeastern Michigan: AuSable River Tubing in Mio

Northwest Michigan: Platte River Michigan Tubing (Tubing Near Traverse City)

Mid Michigan: Chippewa River Tubing in Mt. Pleasant

Chris and I have been down the Chippewa river dozens of times and we love it...In a Kayak, that is!  There are no waves or rapids on the Chippewa River – just let the 4 m.p.h. current carry you downstream!

Midwest Michigan: Muskegon River Tubing in Evart, Newaygo, Grant

Tubing in Newaygo is super popular!  There are several liveries and tube rental outfitters in Newaygo and the region serving the Muskegon River.

Just as a note, the Pine River has some rapids and can be VERY cold, even in summer. So cold my toes started to curl due to the extreme cold water last time I was on the river.
