When it comes to 4th of July and summer celebrations, it's hard to beat Southeast Michigan's festivals, food trucks, family activities and fireworks! 

Detroit fireworks are some of the best in Michigan, so keep reading for our favorite 15 spots to see firework displays all across the great Motor City!

Where do they do the fireworks at in Detroit? Fireworks are located all across Metro Detroit and Oakland County.  You'll find them in Clawson, Royal Oak, Pontiac, Dearborn and downtown Detroit. Keep reading for dates and times of Detroit Fireworks! 

Where can I watch Detroit fireworks 2023? If you are downtown, you won't want to miss the Ford Fireworks that can be seen from Hart Plaza, Belle Isle and Spirit Plaza.


Detroit Fireworks MAP - Top 15 Spots to Watch the Best 4th of July Firework Displays!

1. Detroit's Ford Fireworks: One of the Best Fireworks Shows in America!

How long are the Detroit fireworks?  The Ford Fireworks display is about 24 minutes long. 

When is the Ford Fireworks? June 26, 2023 at 10:06pm!

Best places to see the Ford Fireworks: 

  • Hart Plaza
  • Belle Isle (viewing from the MacArthur Bridge will not be permitted). Motorists will need the Recreation Passport to enter the island. The passport can be purchased at the entrance.
  • Spirit Plaza

This incredible fireworks show is produced by The Parade Company and draws hundreds of thousands of spectators. You can see these incredible Detroit fireworks along the shores of the Detroit River.

  • The Ford Fireworks also has The Rooftop Party presented by Ford. It is held on the Center Garage roof as an annual fundraiser to help put on this jaw-dropping show along the Detroit River.

So come on out to see the Ford Fireworks over the Detroit Riverfront with more than 10,000 pyrotechnic effects. The show can be viewed in-person at the Rooftop party, along the shores of the Detroit River or you can watch the 2023 Ford Fireworks show from home on Local 4 and streaming live on ClickOnDetroit at 10 p.m. Live pre-shows begin at 6:30 p.m. 

Parking Facilities:

MPD will offer parking at these City-owned garages. 

  • Ford Underground Garage, 30 E. Jefferson from 6 a.m. – 1 a.m.
  • Eastern Market Garage, 2727 Riopelle Street from 6 a.m. – 11 p.m.                                                              

2. Cars Under Stars Fireworks Spectacular at the M1 Concourse - 6th Annual

When: Sunday, July 16, 2023, 5:00 pm – 10:30 pm. Fireworks begin at 9:45 PM.

Where: M1 Concourse Arena and Trackside located at Concourse Drive, Pontiac, MI, 48341. Gate 2 – South Blvd. 

  • Park your car at M1 Concourse and watch these incredible Detroit Fireworks from the comfort of your own vehicle!

The 6th Annual Cars Under the Stars Fireworks Spectacular is put on by Coca-Cola includes live entertainment, family activities, food trucks, craft beer and fireworks!

Buy your Cars Under the Stars tickets early!  


3. Festival of the Hills Fireworks in Rochester HIlls

When: June 28, 2023, Activities begin at 6:00 pm, Fireworks at 10:00 pm.

Where: Borden Park, 1400 E. Hamlin Rd., Rochester Hills.

Rochester Hills hosts its Festival of the Hills at Borden Park each year. The incredible fireworks show is the largest display in Oakland County!

  • Enjoy family-friendly entertainment, games, food, outdoor movie, and fun! This festival has fun inflatable play centers, a petting zoo, DJ, rock wall climbing and more!.

On the big outdoor screen at 7:00 pm:

4. Clawson 4th of July Celebration in the Park Fireworks

This all-day festival celebrates Independence Day with tons of family-friendly fun. The celebration has been a tradition in Clawson since 1933 and includes a 5K and 1-mile fun run, an arts and crafts fair, parade, music, and concludes with fireworks at 10 p.m.  The Clawson 4th of July Celebration is a lively event that unites the community and welcomes visitors.

Where: Clawson City Park 

June 25, 2023: Freedom Race, 7:00 pm Free Fun Race and 7:30 pm is the 5K Freedom Run.

June 28, 2023: Concert in the Park & Ice Cream Social at 7:00 pm

July 1, 2023: Kiddie Parade, 10:00 am-Registration and the parade begins at 11:00 am. Parade begins at Clawson Middle School Parking lot ans travels down Phillips Avenue to North Custer Avenue & ends at Clawson City Park.

July 2, 3, and 4, 2023: Carnival: July 2: 12:00 – 10:00 pm, July 3: 12:00 – 10:00 pm and July 4: 11:00 am – 10:00 pm.

July 3 & 4, 2023: Arts & Crafts Fair: July 3: 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm and July 4: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm.

July 4, 2023:  

Firecracker Race and & Parade at 9:00 am

5. Comerica Park Friday Night Fireworks at the Detroit Tigers Game This 4th of July! Detroit Fireworks 2023

Does Comerica Park have fireworks? Sure does!

I mean, what's more patriotic and American than watching an incredible Detroit Tigers baseball game, standing for the National Anthem, enjoying a beer and a hotdog with friends, and later watching incredible Detroit Fireworks after the baseball game?!

When: Tuesday, July 4, 2023. Enjoy incredible fireworks after the Detroit Tigers baseball game. 

Where: Detroit Tigers Fireworks at Comerica Park. Wayne County
Fireworks to start immediately following the game.

The game begins at 6:40 p.m.


6. Independence Fest in Clarkston (Oakland County): Fireworks, Live Music, Carnival!

When: Saturday, July 1, 2023 beginning at 11AM for a great day of family fun!

Where: Clintonwood Park, 6000 Clarkston Road, Clarkston, MI  48348

Come on out to Clarkston this 4th of July weekend for carnival favorite treats, Michigan market, live entertainment, K9 show, and tons of fun for the entire family. Be sure to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the day at Clintonwood Park! Plus, in the evening there will be awesome fireworks display!


7. Ortonville Fireworks & Food Trucks

When: July 3, 2023

Where: Brandon High School in Ortonville

Attend Ortonville Fireworks & Food Trucks for food trucks, inflatables, music, and more beginning at 5 p.m., Be sure to stay for the fun fireworks display at dusk.


8. Farmington Hills Fireworks

When: Thursday, July 6, 2023. Fireworks display to begin at approximately 10 p.m.

Where: Farmington Hills Fireworks will be held at Founders Sports Park, (35500 8 Mile Rd, Farmington Hills), 

  • Early arrival is advised for the Farmington Hills Fireworks event beginning at 7 p.m. at Founders Sports Park. 


9. Salute to America at Greenfield Village in Michigan

When: June 30-July 3, 2023 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Where: Greenfield Village

Come on out to Greenfield Village this 4th of July weekend to walk through the village while enjoying musical performances. At dusk, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra takes center stage on the Village Green for an incredible musical performance to celebrate Independence Day. You can also enjoy:

  • Military fife and drum parade
  • Summer street food, cold treats and craft beer
  • Performances by brass, ragtime piano, blues and jazz groups. 

The evening will conclude with the “1812” Overture performance, cannon fire and a jaw-dropping fireworks finale.  Don't miss this incredible evening at Greenfield Village this July 4th weekend!

10. Uncle Sam Jam: Woodhaven, South of Detroit

When: July 6 - 9, 2023

Where: 23101 Hall Rd, Woodhaven, MI 48183. Woodhaven City Park Center.

Come on out for the 4th of July Uncle Sam Jam!  It's one heck of a July festival including a midway carnival, free concerts, monster truck rides, petting zoos, cornhole tournaments, and as a grand finale see an incredible firework display Friday night at dusk!

Uncle Sam Jam Hours:

  • Thursday: 4pm-11pm
  • Friday: 4pm-midnight
  • Saturday: noon-midnight
  • Sunday: noon-11pm

12. Kensington Metro Park Fireworks: Southeast Michigan

When: 07/02/2023, Fireworks at 10:10 p.m.

Where: Kensington Metropark

Come on out to Southeast Michigan for lots of family friendly fun at Kensington Metropark this 4th of July! The Huron-Clinton Metroparks fireworks festival is a great time to gather with your friends and neighbors with food, fun and fireworks! 

Metroparks daily or annual vehicle pass is required to enter any Metropark.



Be sure to arrive early at Kensington Metropark to walk/bike the trails and explore this incredible Metropark!


13. Lake Erie Metropark Fireworks

When: 07/03/2023, 6:00 pm -10:30 pm, 10 p.m. Fireworks

Where: Lake Erie Metropark, Great Wave Area

Another Southeast Michigan favorite: The Huron-Clinton Metroparks fireworks displays! Come early to enjoy the park trails, playground, and live entertainment.

  • A Metroparks daily or annual vehicle pass is required to enter the park.


14. Stoney Creek Metropark

When: Friday, June 30, 2023 at 10:10 pm.

Where: 4300 Main Park Road, Shelby Township, MI, 48316

Fireworks, Arrive early to attend the 7pm Macomb Symphony Orchestra playing their show “Tribute to America”, with special guest the 338th Army Band until 9:15pm. Enjoy this celebration of our American Independence.

  • A Metroparks daily or annual pass is required to enter the park.


15. Wixom Fireworks 2023: Lite the Night Fireworks

    When: 06/22/2023 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM

    Where: Sibley Square Park, 48900 Pontiac Trail
    Wixom, Michigan 48393

Lite the Night Fireworks is a fun June fireworks event for the whole family.
